The breadcrumbs widget allows users to easily navigate around a portal. You can use this base system widget as-is in your portal or clone it to suit your own business needs.

## Using the widget {#breadcrumbs-widget__section_rmk_hwy_qjb}

The breadcrumbs widget displays information based on where a page is located in a portal.
For example, if you navigate to the Knowledge Base from the home page, then the breadcrumb
reads as HomeKnowledge Base. Each subsequent page that you open expands the breadcrumb.

Click a page name on the breadcrumbs widget to navigate to that page. For example, to
return to the home page, click Home.

You can customize this widget to change the breadcrumb path. For more information, see
[KB0719179](https://support.servicenow.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0719179).

## Instance options {#breadcrumbs-widget__section_kqb_j41_z1b}

The breadcrumbs widget does not have instance options.
