## Light and dark modes {#mcb-dark-mode__section_uzz_vfj_cgc}

Light and dark modes are user interface themes that adjust color schemes to optimize screen visibility and comfort.
Note:
The option to toggle between light and dark mode will only appear if your instance has both light and dark modes configured.
Figure 1. Light mode

Light mode is characterized by a light background with dark text and elements, this mode is the traditional default for most apps, offering high readability in well-lit environments.
Figure 2. Dark mode

Dark mode inverts the typical color palette, featuring a dark background with lighter text and interface elements, which reduces glare and is easier on the eyes, especially in low-light settings.

## Switching between light and dark mode {#mcb-dark-mode__section_z2c_xfj_cgc}

To toggle between light and dark modes, select the theme changer button (![]()) in the builder tool header to open the appearance picker. Select your desired display mode and your builder tool will refresh in real-time with the new appearance.
Note:
Switching to dark mode on Mobile App Builder will automatically change Mobile Card Mode to dark mode and vice-versa.
