# Input field types

Familiarize yourself with different field types and their usage in the Mobile App Builder record screen.
When either creating a new record or editing an existing record, you are presented with
field types specific to the record you selected. You cannot add additional field types. This
restriction ensures that you only work with field types relevant to the open record. The
following are all the available record screen input type fields.

| Input field type | Function | Image |
|-|-|-|
| Text input | Text field that can contain up to 40 characters. | ![Mobile App Builder record screen text input.]() |
| Text area input | Text area that can contain an unlimited number of characters. |   |
| Toggle switch | Switch to enable or disable the functionality. |   |
| Option button | Select a single option from the two or more displayed options. | ![Mobile App Builder record screen option button.]() |
| Menu list | Select the down arrow from the menu to display a list of choices and to select a single item. |   |
| List | Add list entries and define a value for each of them. |   |
| Condition type | Set the condition type and the condition definitions for the selected record. |   |
| Record screen table | Tables consist of either a single reference record or a multi-reference record. Depending on the predefined setup of the table, you can either choose new records, edit existing records, or perform both these actions.
