# Configure the password policies

# Configure the password policies {#ariaid-title1}

Create a password policy to ensure that all passwords are strong and secure.

## Before you begin

Role required: admin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllService Operations WorkspaceOverview.
2. On the Admin Center page, do one of the following:  
   * In the Overview tab, select the Configure button in the Service Desk Assisted Password Reset card.
   * In the Configurations tab, select Service Desk Assisted Password Reset card.

3. On the Password policies card, select Configure.  
   The default password policy is displayed.
4. Select New to create a new password policy.
5. On the form, fill in the fields.

   | Field | Description |
   |-|-|
   | Name | Name of the password policy. |
   | Password Strength Preset | Default password strength. |
   | Minimum Password Length | Minimum number of characters for a password. |
   | Maximum Password Length | Maximum number of characters for a password. |
   | Excluded Special Characters | List of special characters not to be included in a password. |
   | Disallow User Data | Option to exclude the user related data from the password. |
   | Sequence Length Threshold | Maximum number of sequential characters allowed in the password. |
   | Repetition Length Threshold | Maximum number of times a character can be repeated in the password. |

6. Select Submit.
