Digital Product Release provides an AI-driven summarization feature that automatically generates release notes for your product and service releases. This capability streamlines the release note creation process, reducing manual effort
and improving consistency.

## Key capabilities {#dpr-ai-release-notes-generation__section_sd2_nhh_jhc}

Using AI to generate release notes gives you clear, well-structured release notes that are easy to share and update. It also reduces potential issues like delays, errors, and inconsistent messaging when you do it manually. Other key capabilities include:

Automated generation using release scope
: AI generates release notes based on release scope artifacts such as stories, defects, change records, incidents, and problems.

Customizable output
: The AI-generated release notes draft is ready for review and modification as needed.

Flexible sharing
: Share your published release notes via a link or download the PDF for offline use.

Rich formatting
: The release notes draft is displayed in rich text format, which enables multilingual output and the redaction of sensitive data.

## How it works {#dpr-ai-release-notes-generation__section_itg_snh_jhc}

The release notes are generated using a Now Assist summarization skill called Generate Release Notes. This skill is available when the [ServiceNow Otto for IT Service Management (ITSM)](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/mm9Vg0uhjHK3GzV2DE5UBQ "Use the ServiceNow Otto for IT Service Management (ITSM) application to summarize the incident information, generate incident resolution notes, and summarize the chat for an interaction. You can enable your agents to understand the chat and incident context so that they can propose quicker resolutions to your requesters.") plugin is installed.

1. When your release is in the readiness phase, select the option to generate release notes.
2. The system creates a draft using AI summarization.
3. Review and modify the draft as needed.
4. Publish and share the release notes with your audience.
