# Navigate enterprise portfolios in Digital Portfolio Management {#ariaid-title1}

Release version: Australia
Updated March 12, 2026
![](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/portal-asset/ico-clock) 2 minutes to read
You can work with three types of enterprise portfolios in the Digital Portfolio Management (DPM) Workspace --- service, business application, and service instance. Even though you can view service enterprise portfolios in DPM, they're created with Service Portfolio Management tables. Enterprise portfolios for business applications and service instances are created with the enterprise portfolio
tables.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_dpm.dpm_manager

## About this task

Using enterprise portfolios, you can view traditional service portfolios created from the Service Portfolio Management tables. You can also view portfolios for business applications and service instances that are created with enterprise portfolio tables. The search function in the Digital Portfolio Management experience enables you to search across all enterprise portfolios to find the one you seek. You can view a performance snapshot of key performance indicators (KPIs) like availability, new
incidents, subscribers, and customer satisfaction scores.

You can also see items that need attention and select parts of the portfolio to see more details.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to WorkspacesDigital Portfolio Management.
2. Select the enterprise portfolios icon (![Enterprise portfolios icon.]()).
3. Select the Portfolio search field.
Different types of portfolios are displayed in groupings --- Service portfolios, Business application portfolios, and Service instance portfolios.
4. Select a portfolio from one of the groupings.
After you select a portfolio, a list of Enterprise taxonomy nodes are nested in a tree structure, at the top level.
5. Select an Enterprise taxonomy node that interests you, and then select View Details.
The details of the Enterprise taxonomy node include several tabs --- Generally an overview, a tab (or two) for the type of portfolio you selected, and a general information tab. To learn more about enterprise portfolio screens, see [Navigate portfolio types in Digital Portfolio Management](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/wH_kd7OAczUXQdQuzAiZgA "Navigate three types of enterprise portfolios in the Digital Portfolio Management (DPM) application — service, business applications, and service instance. The way to create a portfolio depends on the type. As of May 2025, Enterprise portfolios are created directly in DPM. Business application and Service instance portfolios are created using the enterprise portfolios tables in the DPM module in UI16.").
6. Follow the breadcrumb path to return to the tree structure of the enterprise portfolio.
7. Expand the Enterprise taxonomy node to see its child nodes, and then its solutions (services, business applications, or service instances).
Selecting each item in the tree structure displays high-level information of that item. All child nodes and solutions have their own View details option.
8. View information about a different type of enterprise portfolio.
   Important:
To select a different type of enterprise portfolio from the one you're in, you must delete the value in the Portfolio field. When the Portfolio field is empty, then select it (again) to see the other portfolio types. For example, if you're navigating a service portfolio and want to see to a business portfolio, you must delete the name of the service portfolio in the Portfolio field. After you delete it, select the Portfolio field (again) to see the other enterprise portfolio options (service, business, or service instance).
