# Enable DEX browser extension {#ariaid-title1}

Activate the DEX Chrome or Edge Extension on your system to collect different operational or performance-based metrics for the web applications.

## Before you begin

Confirm that the DEX plugin \[sn_dex\] is installed.

Confirm that the browser versions are Google Chrome 114 or higher, and Microsoft Edge version 96 or higher.  
Note:  
DEX browser extension requires the permission to read and change all your data on all websites.

Role required: sn_dex.admin

## Procedure

Perform the following steps to install DEX Browser Extension based on your browser.

| Browser | Steps |
| Google Chrome | 1. Navigate to [DEX Browser Extension](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dex-chrome-extension/egjklpkeefoaknigleepliepdbonpbec/related?hl=en&authuser=0). 2. ## Result

The Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge extension is enabled by default, and when monitoring of the web applications begins, the collected metrics are sent to the ServiceNow instance.
