# Monitor and plan improvements {#ariaid-title1}

Monitor and plan improvements using the Continual Improvement Workbench that displays improvements in progress, under review, and in the backlog to help you plan your sprint.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_cim.improvement_manager, sn_cim.improvement_coordinator

## Procedure

1. Navigate to Continual ImprovementWorkbench.  
   For more information, see [Continual Improvement Workbench](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/1_I0El6Uzn1hVssWJVRN2Q "The Continual Improvement Workbench provides a consolidated view to plan, approve, monitor, and review improvements using a flexible user interface.").
2. In the Overview tab, review improvements in progress and select a tile to view more details.  
   Color-coded alert banners highlight improvements that require attention.
3. **Optional:** Customize fields shown in workbench lists from Workbench Review.
   1. In the Improvement Register, select the List Controls menu icon ![]().
   2. Navigate to List ControlsViewWorkbench Review to customize the fields.  
      Note:  
      Only fields visible in the Workbench Review are shown in the workbench Overview tab.

4. **Optional:** In the Planning tab, customize fields shown in workbench lists to build the contents of your current sprint according to capacity.
   1. In the Improvement Register, select the List Controls menu icon ![]().
   2. Navigate to List ControlsViewWorkbench Planning to customize the fields.
   3. Drag and drop items from the Backlog list to the Work in Progress list.
   4. Filter data by Priority, Benefits, Effort Estimate, and CIM Coordinator to focus on certain groups of improvements.  
      Note:  
      The filters are dynamic and show only the fields visible in the Workbench Planning view.
   5. Select the Configuration menu icon ![]() to toggle the Filter menu and customize the columns shown in the Planning tab.  
      Note:  
      Only the fields visible in the Improvement Register or Workbench Planning view are shown in the workbench planning section.
