Enable Benchmarks by opting in to participate in Benchmarks data collection. With Benchmarks you can compare your organization's performance with that of the recognized industry standards.{#t_EnableBench-cf__enable-benchmarks}

## Before you begin

To keep the Benchmarks comparison data clean, you can opt in to Benchmarks only from your production instance.
Role required: sn_bm_client.benchmark_admin

## About this task

Note:
You must install the [Success Dashboard](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/ADQJHU1pbmOfv4F1ve_HAA "You can install the ITSM Success Dashboard indicators application (sn_sd_itsm) if you have the admin role. The application installs related ServiceNow Store applications and plugins if they are not already installed.") and [Strategic Portfolio Management](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=it-business-management-bu-level&version=australia&pubname=australia-it-business-management&ft:locale=en-US) applications to access the respective Benchmarks KPIs. For information on these KPIs, see Benchmark KPIs.
Once you have manually opted into Benchmarks, enable and configure benchmark KPIs. From the Benchmarks dashboard, you can view the Benchmarks KPI data, performance trends, and indicator scorecards.
Note:
[Service Portal](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=c_ServicePortal&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US) must be installed to view the Benchmarks dashboard.
Six months of global data is available after opting in. If available, the corresponding data for your instance is also included.
