# Work with demands in Employee Slate

# Work with demands in Employee Slate {#ariaid-title1}

Release version: Australia
Updated August 19, 2026
![](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/portal-asset/ico-clock) 3 minutes to read
The My Demands widget and conversational experience in Employee Slate brings demand creation and tracking into a single, conversation-first workspace. Requesters can create demands through the conversational experience and track them using widgets.
Employee Slate is a conversation first employee experience that combines intelligent assistance, employee communication, organizational navigation, task management, and other employee services to boost
productivity. With the My Demands widget and conversational experience, the demand experience enables requesters to track demand status, activity, and progress in the same place they do other work. For more information about Employee Slate, see [ServiceNow
EmployeeWorks Web App](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=employee-slate-landing-page&version=australia&pubname=australia-employee-service-management&ft:locale=en-US).

Demands are available in Employee Slate if both Project Workspace and Employee Slate Core apps are installed.

## Create demands with conversational experience {#my-demands-widget-ppm__section_ykf_ltp_jkc}

You can create a demand through an Employee Slate conversation. Include relevant business context in your message if you have it. For example, enter a message such as "Upgrade system software." The relevant demand catalog items are identified
and a demand form opens. If you included relevant business context in your message, matching fields (such as Business Case) are prepopulated on the form. If you did not include business context, the fields remain empty.

After the demand record is created, you can track the new demand from the My Demands and Requests widgets on your canvas. You can also track the status of the demand through the conversational experience by just asking about
the state.

## Track demands with My Demands widget {#my-demands-widget-ppm__section_nkj_vdp_jkc}

The My Demands widget is a card on the Employee Slate canvas. It lists your ten most recently updated demands with a total count of your demands next to the My Demands
heading. Each demand in the list appears as a row with its demand title, assignee avatar and name, and a color-coded status badge. If the demand does not have an assigned demand manager, the icon and label indicates it as
unassigned.

The widget is available in the canvas widget library. Add it to your canvas; it is retained for future sessions. For more information about how to add widgets to your canvas, see [Customize canvas widgets](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=eslate-customize-canvas-widgets&version=australia&pubname=australia-employee-service-management&ft:locale=en-US).

The My Demands widget provides the following benefits:

* A unified requester experience for tracking demands alongside other Employee Slate requests.
* Improved transparency into demand lifecycle status, without needing to contact a demand manager.
* Faster collaboration when a demand manager requests for more information.

Select the Open full list icon on the widget to view the entire list of your demands or select an individual demand row to open its details page. You can filter demands by their state in the full list view and open a demand
record by selecting it.

A demand record page includes the demand details, demand status tracker, delivery information, activity notes, and attachments. The demand fields shown are configurable by admin users. For more information, see [Configure the demand details fields in Employee Slate](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/SVPrUF9rYxAaqx59BMVSsw "Configure the fields that appear in the demand details ticket page in Employee Slate.").

The current state of the demand is highlighted. The delivery information indicates whether the demand is converted to a work item. After conversion, the card displays a link to the resulting work item. For more information
about demand states, see [Demand Management process flow](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/jzp4bcaq_pM4g_T0oGhQeQ "The Demand Management process flow consists of the following tasks.").

You can edit the demand values only while the demand is in the Draft state. After you submit a demand, you can no longer edit its field values, but you can still add activity notes and attachments. See [Edit a draft demand in Employee Slate](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/pOW35RPjHKmdSugI0~Nowg "Update the details of a draft demand in Employee Slate before submitting it for a demand manager's review.").

## Track demands with Requests widget {#my-demands-widget-ppm__section_dfd_zqp_jkc}

Demands also appear in the standard Requests widget, alongside your other requests. Selecting View more takes you to the Requests list. You can find your demands in this list even if you have not added
the My Demands widget to your canvas.

You can also view and edit demands by selecting a demand from the list.
