## Summary of Filtering questions in an assessment

In ServiceNow's Smart Assessment Engine (SAE), you can efficiently narrow down the list of questions in an assessment by applying one or more filters from a dropdown menu.
This helps responders focus on specific questions that meet selected criteria, improving assessment management and review.

## Key Features

* **Filter Dropdown:** Initially labeled "All questions," this dropdown lets you select filters individually or in combination. The label updates dynamically to show active filters (e.g., "AI assisted +1").
* **Multiple Filters:** Selecting multiple filters narrows the question list to only those questions that satisfy every chosen filter (e.g., questions that are both "Unanswered" and "Flagged").
* **Available Filters:**
  * **Unanswered:** Shows questions without responses, helping ensure no question is left unanswered before submission.
  * **AI assisted:** Displays questions with AI-generated suggestions from the Smart Assessment Response Assist skill, regardless of whether the suggestions were used.
  * **With comments:** Filters for questions that have comments or work notes attached at the question level, supporting collaboration.
  * **Flagged:** Shows questions marked for attention by reviewers or contributors, facilitating focused review.
  * **Resolved:** Displays questions where previously flagged issues have been addressed, helping track resolution status.
* **Combining and Clearing Filters:** Filters can be applied or removed independently. You can combine filters to refine results and clear them individually or all at once using the dropdown's Clear option or by resetting to "All questions."

## Practical Benefits

Using these filters, ServiceNow customers can streamline the assessment process by quickly identifying unanswered questions, leveraging AI suggestions, monitoring collaborative comments, managing flagged issues, and tracking resolved items. This targeted filtering enhances efficiency and accuracy in assessment completion and review workflows.
In SAE, narrow the question list in an assessment by selecting one or more filters from the filter dropdown. Filters can be combined to focus on questions that match every selected
criterion.

## Filter overview {#filtering-questions-in-an-assessment__section_overview}

The filter is labeled All questions when no filter is applied. When a responder opens the drop-down list, they see a list of filters that they can select individually or in combination. The drop-down
list label updates to reflect what is active --- for example, AI assisted +1 when two filters are selected.

Selecting multiple filters narrows the list to questions that match every selected filter. For example, selecting both Unanswered and Flagged shows only questions that are
unanswered and flagged.

For the step-by-step procedure, see [Filter questions in an assessment](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/vSrMPVFQ_CHsFrXOIhgR5g "In SAE, narrow the question list in an assessment by selecting one or more filters from the filter dropdown. Combine filters to focus on questions that match every selected criterion.").

## Available filters {#filtering-questions-in-an-assessment__section_available_filters}

The filter drop-down list includes the following options:

Unanswered
: Shows only questions that don't yet have a response. Use this filter to find every question that still needs an answer before submitting the assessment.

AI assisted
: Shows only questions that have AI-generated suggestions. A question is considered AI assisted after the Smart Assessment Response Assist skill produces a suggestion for it. This applies whether the suggestion was applied, modified, or discarded. For more information about AI-generated responses, see [Smart Assessment response assist skill](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/oTH~9IOF2N3jwj0TPy2btQ "The GenAI-powered Smart Assessment Response Assist skill automatically drafts answers by using past smart assessments, classic assessments, and supporting documents.").

With comments
: Shows only questions that have at least one comment or work note attached to them. Comments and work notes are added at the question level through the dynamic panel on each question card. For more information,
    see [Collaboration in assessments](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/yIaHj6w8llDRrZ8Pxb1rBQ "Collaboration in Smart Assessment Engine enables you to add multiple contributors to an assessment and support live collaboration with real-time updates. It also displays presence indicators to show who is active on the assessment.").

Flagged
: Shows only questions that are currently in the Flagged state. A flagged question is one that a reviewer or contributor has marked as needing attention. For more information about the flagging workflow, see [Collaboration in assessments](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/yIaHj6w8llDRrZ8Pxb1rBQ "Collaboration in Smart Assessment Engine enables you to add multiple contributors to an assessment and support live collaboration with real-time updates. It also displays presence indicators to show who is active on the assessment.").

Resolved
:   Shows only questions that are in the Resolved state. A question is moved to the Resolved state when a previously raised flag on it has been addressed. For more information about flag states, see [Collaboration in assessments](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/yIaHj6w8llDRrZ8Pxb1rBQ "Collaboration in Smart Assessment Engine enables you to add multiple contributors to an assessment and support live collaboration with real-time updates. ## Combining and clearing filters {#filtering-questions-in-an-assessment__section_combining_filters}

Each filter in the drop-down list can be selected or deselected independently:

* To apply a filter, open the drop-down list and select the filter. The question list updates immediately to match.
* To combine filters, select more than one option in the drop-down list. The list narrows to questions that match every selected filter.
* To remove a single filter, reopen the drop-down list and deselect that filter. The remaining selected filters stay active.
* To remove all filters at once, use the Clear option in the drop-down list or change it back to All questions.
