In SAE, add comments and work notes to an assessment to clarify questions or other aspects of the assessment. Owners, contributors, readers, and administrators can add comments while the
assessment is active. After the assessment is cancelled, existing comments and work notes remain visible but read-only.

## Before you begin

* To post a work note, your user account must also have one of the roles configured in the Worknotes roles field on the template category.
* Role required: sn_smart_asmt.actor, sn_smart_asmt.assessment_admin, or sn_smart_asmt.assessment_reader.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to your workspace and then to your list of assessments.  
   Here's an example of how to navigate to this list in the Compliance Workspace.
   1. Navigate to AllPolicy and ComplianceCompliance Workspace.
   2. Select the tasks icon ![]().
   3. Select the Control attestationsSmart Assessments on the left panel.
   4. The smart assessments list is displayed.

2. Open the assessment to which you want to add a comment.
3. From the contextual sidebar, select the Comment icon ![]().
4. Provide your comment in the Comment field.
5. Select Post Comments.  
   The comment appears in the comment list.

## Result

The comment or work note appears in the comment list and is visible to all participants on the assessment.
