# Retire policy

# Retire a policy {#ariaid-title1}

Retiring a policy is part of the policy management process.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_compliance_admin or sn_compliance_manager

## About this task

A policy can be retired anytime after being approved and published to the KB. If the policy has reviewers, then one month before the policy retires, it is moved to the Review state. If there are no reviewers for the policy, then
it is moved to the Draft state.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllPolicy and CompliancePolicies.
2. Open the Policy record.
3. In the top-right corner, click Retire.  
   This option is available only for policies in a published state.
