# Create a metric unit

# Create a metric unit {#ariaid-title1}

Define the units in which the metric scores are displayed. The units can be numbers,
percentages, currencies, quantities of time, or any other unit that you define. The commonly
used units are provided by default.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_grc_metric.manager, sn_risk.user and sn_compliance.user.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllRiskRisk WorkspaceMetricsUnits.
2. Click New.
3. On the form, fill in the fields.

   | Field | Description |
   |-|-|
   | Name | Name of the unit. For example, <kbd class="ph userinput">$</kbd>. |
   | Format | Format of the unit. For example, `{0} MWh` gives you the number of Megawatt-hours with the abbreviation MWh. |

4. To save the metric unit, click Save.

## Result

The metric unit is saved in the Units list.
