# Deactivate control objective

# Deactivate a control objective using the Compliance Workspace {#ariaid-title1}

Using the Compliance Workspace, you can deactivate control objectives
that are no longer relevant to their citation or parent control objective.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_compliance_admin or sn_compliance_manager

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllPolicy and CompliancePolicies and ProceduresControl objective.
2. Open a control objective.
3. In the control objective, clear the check box marked Active.
4. Click Update.
