You can configure the documentation section of a business continuity plan in a structured format. You can describe high level details of the plan such as its purpose, scope, coverage areas, goals, and success
criteria.

You can document the details of your business continuity plan in separate documentation sections. You can view the pre-configured documentation sections in the General Administration section of the Business Continuity Management application.

When a business continuity plan is created, it populates one or more documentation sections that are selected in the plan template.
The Business Continuity Management application provides the documentation sections that you have installed with the demo data in the plan template:

* BCP-Assumptions
* BCP-Objectives
* BCP-Scope
* BIA-Overview
* SN-BCP Checklist
* SN-Overview

A sample Business Continuity Plan template with the SN-Overview and SN-Checklist document sections is shown in the example.

## Creating a documentation section for your business requirement {#bcp-admin-documentation-sections__section_zfk_h54_qxb}

If you have the BCM administrator role, you can use the documentation section template listed in General Administration for creating a documentation section. To configure a documentation section by using the documentation section template, see [Configure documentation section](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/K3aKV_5G0IOV8~7gbBr1kQ "Configure the documentation section to describe your plan through structured components: a high-level checklist, purpose, scope, and coverage areas.").
Note:
When you create a documentation section in the Documentation tab without using the plan template, the Reset to template UI action is not available for that documentation section.

You can also create a documentation section on the Documentation tab in the Business Continuity Workspace. You can use the Create new section UI action for creating a documentation section as shown in the example.
For more information on creating a documentation section for your business plan in the Business Continuity Workspace, see [Create documentation sections](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/lLhyW2aC_LO5mme3dAy6FQ "Create a documentation section in the business continuity plan. You can then document the recovery capabilities of your business continuity plan in BCM UIB Workspace.").
* **[Configure documentation section](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/K3aKV_5G0IOV8~7gbBr1kQ)**
