# Create test step plans

# Create test step plans in the test plan {#ariaid-title1}

Create a test step plan from the Audit Workspace by selecting a test plan, opening the Test step plans tab, and entering details like identifier and assessment objective.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_audit.admin or sn_audit.manager

## About this task

Test step plans are generated for the test plan of a control based on the control objective. Each control objective has a particular test template, and test step templates are created for this test template. Test plans are
generated from the test template of a control objective. Test step plans are generated from the test step templates.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to WorkspacesAudit Workspace.
2. Select the lists icon (![List icon.]()).
3. Select Test plans under Execution.
4. Select a test template record from the list of test plans.
5. Select the Test step plans tab to view the list of test step plans and create a new test step plan.
6. Select New to create a new test step plan.
7. In the test step plan form, enter the following details:  
   * Identifier: The identifier of the test step plan.
   * Test plan: The name of the test plan. By default, this field is automatically populated.
   * Assessment objective: The assessment objective. An assessment objective is the guideline for how to assess the control.

8. Select Save to save the test step plan.
