Request the development or procurement of an AI model to support an AI system. This process captures the technical and business context needed to initiate governance review, risk assessment, and life cycle tracking for the
model.

## Before you begin

Role required: AI risk and compliance business user
(Employee Center),
sn_ai_asset_mgmt.ai_asset_owner (AI Control Tower dashboard)

## About this task

An AI model is a core component of an AI system that performs learning, prediction, classification, or generation based on training data. Requesting an AI model initiates governance review, risk assessment, and life cycle
tracking before the model is trained, procured, or deployed.

## Procedure

1. Request an AI model using one of the following options.

   | Option | Description |
   | Employee Center | 1. Navigate to AllSelf-ServiceEmployee Center. 2. Select Help centerTechnology services and then select AI assets from the Technology services topics section. 3. Select the Request an AI model card. Note: AI Risk and Compliance Business User and AI Asset owner can complete this option. |
   | AI Control Tower | 1. Navigate to AllAI Control Tower. 2. On the AI Control Tower dashboard, select the list icon ![](), and navigate to the AI asset inventory - Managed or AI asset inventory - Unmanaged 3. Select AI Model, then select Add AI Model. Note: An AI Asset owner can complete this option. |

This intake form confirms that all necessary details, supporting documents, and compliance considerations are captured before moving forward with the approval process."). For more information, on adding an AI model using the AI Control Tower, see [Create AI model assets](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=create-ai-model-assets&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US).
3. **Optional:** To add attachments, select Add attachments.
4. **Optional:** To save the form as a draft and edit it later, select Save as Draft.
5. Select Submit.
The AI model request is submitted for review as part of the AI governance process.

## What to do next

After submitting an AI model request, the next steps depend on your role in the AI governance life cycle.

AI Product Owner or Requester \[sn_grc_ai_gov.ai_risk_and_compliance_user\]: Provide additional information as requested during intake and onboarding, including details about the model purpose, training approach, intended
usage, and how the model supports one or more AI systems. You may be asked to clarify model sourcing (in-house or third-party), data dependencies, or expected business outcomes.

AI Steward or AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) \[sn_grc_ai_gov.ai_risk_and_compliance_manager, sn_ai_asset_mgmt.ai_asset_owner\]: Review submitted requests for business and strategy alignment, initiate the review process and
trigger required assessments, and coordinate cross‑functional reviews. Continue to oversee the AI model through its life cycle, including inventory tracking, governance activities, linkage to related datasets and AI systems,
and collaboration across stakeholders.

For more information, see [AI Control Tower dashboard](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=ai-governance&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US).

Risk and Compliance Manager \[sn_grc_ai_gov.ai_risk_and_compliance_manager\]: Assess the AI model for regulatory, policy, and risk considerations. Assign risk and impact assessments, recommend controls and attestations, and
monitor compliance throughout the AI model life cycle and its associated AI system life cycle.
