# Publish a campaign {#ariaid-title1}

Publish a campaign to start generating campaign cycles and metric data tasks for its metrics.

## Before you begin

* The campaign must have at least one metric and a data owner. For more information, see [Add or remove entities and metrics from a campaign](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/XOb77gF9VORUvyWprvWZGA "Add or remove entities and metrics from a campaign to control which records are included in its data collection.") and [Configure data owner and approver assignments for a campaign](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/stYlOktjr5GmYUTU8TkvGw "Assign a data owner and one or more levels of approvers to a campaign, so the right users receive metric data tasks and approve them in sequence.").
* The campaign must be in the Pending publication state.
* Role required: sn_grc_metric.manager

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllOperational Sustainability ManagementOperational Sustainability Workspace.
2. From the left panel, select the List icon.
3. Select MetricsCampaigns.
4. Open the campaign.
5. Select Publish.

## Result

The campaign moves to the Published state. The group, calendar, and frequency fields lock, and the campaign begins generating campaign cycles based on its frequency and first run date.
