# Remove a CI

# Remove a CI from a map using the map editor {#ariaid-title1}

You can remove (hide) a CI from the map only if you added it during the current editing session and have not yet saved the map. You cannot remove a CI that was on the map when you started the editing session.

## Warum und wann dieser Vorgang ausgeführt wird

When you remove (hide) a CI from the map, the record of the CI in the CMDB is not deleted. In contrast, connection records for a removed CI are affected as described in [Deleting a connection](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/TdNeqJVqQe2SnZsPfQIkWA#unified-map-editing-map__section-connections-deleting).

## Prozedur

While editing a map, take one of the following actions:

* Select the CI and then select Remove in the Attributes panel.
* Right-click the CI and then select Remove.
