# Edit draft policy version

# Edit a draft PaCE policy version {#ariaid-title1}

You can edit a Draft PaCE policy version at any
time. The Draft version can be published to become the Current version. You can also create
multiple different Draft versions from different Archived versions.

Role required: sn_pace.code_editor

## Prozedur

1. Navigate to AllPoliciesMy Policies.  
   Hinweis:  
   To view all policies generated by admin/other users, navigate to PoliciesAll Policies.
2. Click the Policy name for the policy that includes the version you want to edit.
3. In the Policy Details page, click the Versions tab.
4. Click the Version name that you want to edit.
5. Edit the information and inputs in the Details and Policy Builder tabs.

   | Tab | Editable options |
   | Details | Update the Description field. Hinweis: The Description field is the only editable field in the Details tab. The version and revision numbering are generated automatically and cannot be modified. |
   | Policy Builder | In the Define Variables section, select Config ParametersMapped Inputs. You can: * Click New to add a new input variable. See [Create a new variable for a policy version](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/uVlgA~yhlML2b~ttvkHBwA "Create an API Variable, Config Parameter, or Record Reference for the policy version in the Define Variables section of the Policy Builder.")[Add mapped input variables](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/VdkzPFCTctCI0C0eo6cobQ "You can add mapped input variables to any PaCE policy version in Draft state. Mapped inputs, including any mandatory inputs, can be passed when mapping policies to an object (tables and document IDs). A published policy version, meaning the version is Current or Archived, cannot be edited and mapping input variables cannot be modified or added.") for details on adding input variables. * Select an existing variable and click Delete to remove the variable from the list. {#pace-edit-draft-version__ul_g2m_q5f_psb} |

6. Perform one of the following actions.

   | Option | Description |
   | Save the version | Click Save. The policy version is saved and the version page is refreshed. |
   | Publish the version | Click Publish Policy. In the displayed confirmation message, click Publish. The policy version becomes the Current version and is used the next time the policy is invoked. |
   | Test your updates | Click the Test Playground tab. The Test Playground page is displayed, where you can update the policy script and test your changes. For further information, see [Use the Test Playground for PaCE policies](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/u_swrRAOC9rUxvYqtGiH7w "The Test Playground enables you to test updates to a PaCE policy at any time, without the need to test or evaluate them in a Production environment."). |
   | Delete the version | Click Delete. Only versions that have never been used can be deleted. |
   | Review execution activity | Click the Executions tab to review the execution activity for this version. See [Review executed policy activity](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/~HUeLzwGVemzekzXwRuAvw "You can review the execution activity of any policy at any time. Recorded execution activity includes the time taken to execute, decisions of compliance, execution types, and the outcome of the execution.") for details. |
