# Create PaCE policy version

# Create a PaCE policy version {#ariaid-title1}

Create a version from scratch at any time for any of your existing PaCE policies.

Hinweis:  
Your administrator may have pre-configured policy versions that contain default caller and mapping inputs. You may not be able to edit these input variables, but you can add new inputs, as required.

## Prozedur

1. Navigate to AllPoliciesMy Policies.  
   Hinweis:  
   To view all policies generated by admin/other users, navigate to PoliciesAll Policies.
2. Click the policy name for the policy that you want to add a new version to.
3. You can create a new version two different ways:
   * Select the Policy builder tab, then the Overflow menu icon![Overflow menu icon.]()
   * Select the Version management tab then Create new version.
4. Select Create new version.  

5. In the Policy Details page, click the Versions tab.
6. Click New.  
   The New version page appears.
7. Select the New blank version tile or an existing policy template, then Create.  
   Templates can be filtered by most used, alphabetically, state, and type. By default, inactive templates are hidden.
8. Clear the Is low code check box.
9. **Wahlweise:** In the Create New Policy Version form, add a description in the Description field.  
   Hinweis:  
   The Description field is the only editable field in the form. The version and revision numbering cannot be modified and are automatically assigned.
10. Click Save.

The policy version is saved and the version is assigned a number according to policy numbering. You can:

* Define API Variables, Config Parameters, and Record Referencescaller and mapped inputs.

* Modify the policy script. See [Edit a PaCE policy script](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/TpNxto2O7q9BMubPz53dAg "Edit the PaCE policy script to apply any changes to the policy logic.").

* Test your policy version to ensure it is compliant. See [Use the Test Playground for PaCE policies](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/u_swrRAOC9rUxvYqtGiH7w "The Test Playground enables you to test updates to a PaCE policy at any time, without the need to test or evaluate them in a Production environment.") for details.

* Publish the policy version. See [Publish a PaCE policy version](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/YPo904cvwRkpCrYyrRUTDw "You can publish a policy version at any time. When the policy is published, a compliant, non-compliant, or compliant-exception decision is made for objects (tables or document IDs) mapped to the policy.").

* Review execution activity for the version. Recorded execution activity includes the time taken to execute, decisions of compliance, execution types, and the outcome of the execution.").

* Delete the version. See [Delete a PaCE policy version](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/_o0L0OtmXXcjjDbCc6shNA "You can delete a policy version at any time. However, only versions that have never been published can be deleted. Published versions are stored for auditing purposes.").
