# Add a knowledge block to a knowledge article

# Add a knowledge block to a knowledge article {#ariaid-title1}

Insert one or more knowledge blocks into a knowledge article within a knowledge base. Each knowledge block is secured by user criteria, which controls who can read or not read the content in an article.

## Vorbereitungen

* You must have a 'contribute' access to the knowledge base.
* Confirm that the knowledge blocks feature is enabled for the knowledge base that the article is in. For more information, see [Enable knowledge blocks in the Knowledge Center](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/ERQwj7o19uo93kteDljmFQ "Enable the knowledge blocks feature for each knowledge base where you plan to use the blocks. Once enabled, you can create knowledge blocks to add to knowledge articles within a knowledge base.")

## Prozedur

1. Navigate to AllKnowledgeKnowledge CenterListsKnowledge.
2. Select New to create an article.
3. Select the knowledge base and the article template in the Create new article window.
4. Preview the article template and select Next.
5. Start by entering the Knowledge base, Short description (title), and other details in the metadata pane of the article form.
6. Select Blocks icon from the contextual side panel.  
7. Preview the list of Knowledge Blocks associated with the knowledge article.
8. Select Insert to add a knowledge block to the article body.
9. Alternatively, search for the knowledge block using search and advanced search fields, and then insert the appropriate one into the article.
10. Select Save.  
    Hinweis:  
    You can't edit knowledge blocks from the article editor. You must go to a knowledge block record to edit it. To edit a published knowledge block, you must checkout.
