Activate the CSDM plugin so you can begin implementing the CSDM data model.

## Vorbereitungen

Wichtig:
Before you activate the CSDM plugin, you must map your existing life-cycle data to standard CSDM attributes. The mapping enables you to track assets effectively through their life cycle transitions with the [CMDB Data Manager](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/mlCKittCBQ8FvX5bWbQ1Qw "CMDB Data Manager is a policy-driven framework for bulk management of CI life-cycle operations such as deletion, archival, and attestation. The CMDB Data Manager is a comprehensive and integrated solution that scales to large CMDBs and copes with rapid changes in a cloud-based world."). For instructions, see [Migrate to CSDM life cycle standards](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/1DuB3hVTxLksjzgSPoqhFw#csdm-life-cycle-standard-values "You can align life-cycle values for each product instance on the asset, CI, and IBI tables. A one-time process moves legacy status values for asset and CI across the platform to standard CSDM life-cycle value pairs (life cycle stage and life cycle stage status). Business rules then run regularly to ensure identical IBI, asset, and CI life-cycle data for each product instance.").
