View a workflow example in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace

  • View an example of an end-to-end workflow in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace. See how a vulnerability manager or analyst might use the workspace to monitor critical records and create remediation tasks to hand off to IT.

    Vorbereitungen

    Role required:
    • sn_vul.vulnerability_analyst, or sn_vul.vulnerability_admin for host vulnerable items (VITs)
    • sn_vul.app_sec_manager for application vulnerable items (AVITs)
    • sn_vul_container.vulnerability_analyst or sn_vul_container.vulnerability_admin for container vulnerable items (CVITs)
    • sn_vulc.admin for configuration test results (CTRs)

    Prozedur

    Click the following video to view the steps of the workflow.

    The preceding video includes the following tasks:

    1. Click a watch topic on the Watch topics page of the workspace to view data on a dashboard.
    2. Create a watch topic using filter conditions and preview the matching records. For more information on how to create a watch topic, see Create a watch topic in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace.
    3. View data about records and their related configuration items on the Impacted CIs tab on a watch topic. For more information on the visualizations, see Related items list and visualizations in a watch topic.
    4. View data about vulnerabilities on the Distinct Vulnerabilities tab on a watch topic.
    5. View the records associated with the watch topic on the Vulnerable items or Configuration Test Results tab on a watch topic. Scroll to the right to view which records are already in a remediation effort in the Remediation effort column.
    6. Select Create a Remediation Effort on a watch topic when you are ready to create tasks for specific types of records and assign them to IT for remediation. For more information oh how to create a remediation effort, see Create a remediation effort in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace.
    7. Select the List view to see lists of your remediation efforts, remediation tasks, records, exceptions, and approvals. For more information on the Lists page, see List page in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace.
    8. Select the Active remediation efforts list from the List view to open a remediation effort record to view status and information about the record. For more information, see List page in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace.
    9. Select the Remediation Task tab on the remediation effort record to view the remediation tasks associated with the remediation record. For more information, see List page in the Vulnerability Manager Workspace.
    10. Select the Vulnerable Items tab, Application Vulnerable Items tab, Container Vulnerable Items tab or Configuration Test Results tab on the respective remediation effort record to view a list of records associated with a remediation effort.     11. If you want to create a new remediation task on-demand from the remediation effort for a subset of records, select the records you want to move and click Create remediation task.
