Select the tables that are subject to Query Generation.

## Configuration overview {#configuring-query-generation__cf-config-parent-checklist}

You must activate the Query Generation skills for it to be used. You may also change which tables are included and have semantic generation enabled.

  Query Generation skills enable users to ask questions in Now Assist in Platform Analytics applications and receive answers.
* **[Add a table to the semantic data layer](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/PPcWbYYc5k0gBFhiuMOIQQ#add-table-semantic-layer)**   
  Add more tables to the Query Generation semantic layer so that users can use Now Assist in Platform Analytics applications to ask questions about the data in those tables.

  Tables can be included in the semantic table configuration but have semantic generation disabled. Enable semantic generation to include that table in Query Generation. Deactivate irrelevant data to improve results.

  Help Query Generation understand user questions and deliver more accurate results by customizing semantic metadata for Entities and Dimensions. Metadata includes semantic descriptions and usage instructions.

  Segments are reusable definitions that provide non-obvious context, to assist the semantic layer or large language model (LLM) to select the correct entity, dimension, and values. Segments are created manually or automatically.
