Create a data product

    • Organize related data fabric tables and other assets into a single governed collection for reuse and sharing. Create a Data Product when you need to deliver a governed, production-ready data asset to your organization. This packaged collection of Data Interfaces includes essential metadata and governance controls, ensuring compliance, data quality standards, and proper documentation.

    A data product represents a single, well-defined business concept, such as shipment, billing, or vehicle. Use Data Products when you want to provide business users with trusted, well-documented pathways to data that meet organizational governance requirements and can be safely reused across multiple applications or teams.

    Prozedur

    1. Navigate to All > Workflow Data Fabric > Workflow Data Fabric Home.
    2. Select the Data workbench icon(Data workbench icon).
    3. Select Create > Create data product > Get started.
    4. Add basic details for the data fabric table under the Basic details tab.
    5. On the form, fill in the fields.

        Field Description
        Data product name Name for the data product.
        Description Description for the data product.
        Owner Name of the user that will manage the data product.
        Tags Search tags to help with data product discovery.
        Application scope Identifies the application files and data the data product has access to.
      2. Select Continue.
    6. Add the assets that best represent the data you want to package and publish under the Select source tables tab.
      1. Wahlweise: Filter data assets or search for a source table using the search bar.
      2. Select a table to review its details, and select Add to add the source table.
      3. Repeat step 6b for all source tables you want to add to this data fabric table.
      4. Wahlweise: Select View added tables to review your added tables, and select Done when you're finished.
      5. Select Continue.
    7. Assign or review access roles for the data product under the Set permissions tab.
      1. Add a role by typing the role name and selecting the role you want.
      2. Select the Read access permission level.
      3. Select Add role to add another role and permissions.
      4. Repeat steps 7a-c for all the roles you want to add.
      5. Select Continue.
    8. Confirm the details of your data product, and make changes to the assets under the Set permissions tab.
      1. Review the table details, sources, combination method, mapping, and access control sections.
      2. Wahlweise: Select Edit next to any section to make changes.
      3. Select Done when you're ready.
      The final view of the data product is displayed.
    9. Wahlweise: Review the data product and complete any missing configurations.
    10. Select Publish to make the data product available.

    Ergebnisse

    The data product is available in the catalog for applications.
