The Knowledge module in Core Business Suite enables you to adjust settings for the default knowledge bases. It enables importing articles to support cross-functional knowledge sharing across business units in Core Business Suite.

The Knowledge module is accessible through the Configuration Console in Core Business Suite. The module provides centralized management of knowledge bases that contain cross-functional Knowledge spanning multiple business units.{#kb-cbs__kb-cbs-para-1}

You can edit existing knowledge bases using the settings icon displayed next to each Knowledge Base. The default Knowledge Base, Core Business Suite Knowledge, supports cross-functional Knowledge that spans business units and supports employee and supplier requests as added by the CBS admins.{#kb-cbs__kb-cbs-para-2}

The Knowledge module is available across business unit modules within the Configuration Console. You can perform the same configuration actions for Knowledge Base articles in the Human Resources, Health and Safety, Legal, Source-to-Pay, and Workplace Services modules.{#kb-cbs__kb-cbs-para-3}

The Knowledge module supports the following capabilities:{#kb-cbs__kb-cbs-para-4}

* Import knowledge articles to the portal.
* Create additional knowledge bases for specific business needs.
* Manage publish and retire workflows for knowledge articles.
* Assign ownership and management responsibilities.
* Adjust the settings of the default Knowledge Base at a product-level or at a business unit-level.

## Permissions {#kb-cbs__section_dgq_514_jkc}

Two default knowledge management permissions are available in the Knowledge module Can Read and Can Contribute for the distribution of access. The Can Read
permission lets you read the knowledge base articles, whereas, the Can Contribute permission lets you edit the article.

You can edit the permissions both at a product-level and at a business unit-level to add or remove groups or roles from the default user criteria.
