# Elevate your role in ServiceNow Studio {#ariaid-title1}

Elevate your role to security_admin in ServiceNow Studio to configure roles and access control lists (ACLs).

## Before you begin

Role required: admin, or another role that can be elevated.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllApp EngineServiceNow Studio.
2. From the home page, select your user preferences.
3. Select Elevate role.
4. Select the security_admin role.  
   The security_admin role grants modification access to high security settings and enables you to modify the access control list (ACL). 5. Select Update.
