How to use layouts for your portal

Step 1 : Enable the use of designed pages on your tenant

  • Go to Administration > Portal > Homepage, and choose the last option "Designed", so you'll use the Designed page as Homepage
  • Do not forget to save !

Step 2 : Previewing layouts to choose yours

  • Click on the three dots menu on top right of one layout
  • Click on Open Published
  • The layout will be displayed in a new tab to get an overview

Step 3 : Found your layout ? Now activate it ...

  • Click on the three dots menu on top right of one layout
  • Click on Duplicate Page
  • You will get a new modal window (see below)
  • Select "As homepage" on top of the modal window, so that the layout will become your brand new homepage
  • Rename the layout the way you want (Name and Tab title)
  • Choose the language of your homepage (carefull, it's a mandatory step and you can only have one homepage per language)
  • Important : When you create a homepage from a custom one, the homepage is not published, hence, it's not visible
    • First thing you have to do is to open your new homepage in the designer, and click on SAVE AND PUBLISH button on bottom right.

Step 4 : My layout is installed ! What's next ?

  • Go now to Administration > Design > Homepage ... Your homepage is here.
  • Click directly on the tile to open it in the Designer
  • New to Page Designer ? Now worries, everything is explained here
  • ... or check the video presentation here
  • If you want to change the color of your layout, you can change the colors by setting them in Administration > Portal > Theme
  • Or you can choose another color in the layout directly by using the three variables of your theming :
    • ft-theming-primary
    • ft-theming-secondary
    • ft-theming-tertiary

Step 5 : Last but not least... things to know, things to avoid.

  • Layouts are not Templates !
    • This is important. Layouts do not provide a way to manage the UI separately from the content, which means if you start adding content to one homepage and if you take another layout, the content will be lost. There's no inheritance between layouts.
  • As soon as you have chosen one layout for your homepage, you can duplicate it to create "Custom Pages"
  • Like when you duplicate your first layout to create your homepage, now duplicate your homepage "as a page"
  • Choose the URL to make this new page accessible
  • Now, all the work, the modifications, text and pictures you've done on the homepage will be taken to create this custom page.
  • Create as many custom pages as you want! You don't have to pay for this, their use is unlimited! Try, experience, and have fun !
